Who was Murry Bergtraum? Murry Bergtraum was a furrier and was active in the furrier's union, as well as, in local politics prior to becoming President of the Board of Education. His wife, Edith, was a public school teacher for over 20 years. She, too, was active in political and civic organizations, served on school boards, was appointed to the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women, and has the distinction of having an elementary school in Queens named after her.

Take a look at the aerial view of our school. That will give you a good perspective of where we are.

By Car:

There's parking on Water Street & Pike Slip at the Edison Lot. From there you will have to walk in the direction of the Brooklyn Bridge, go underneath it and proceed just past the Verizon tower and make a left around that building. The main entrance to the school is just past the Verizon tower. The police have strangled the neighborhood streets with their cars so don't expect to find even a meter. Be prepared to pay in excess of $20 to park.

By Subway (subway map):

	4/5/6 Get off at the Brooklyn Bridge Station in Manhattan.  Walk east through Police Plaza. You will see the school across the street.
	A/C/E Get off at Broadway Nassau Street Station in Manhattan.  Walk down Fulton Street (toward the river) to Gold Street, turn left on to Gold, walk under the Brooklyn Bridge, the school is on the left.
	2/3 Get off at Fulton Street in Manhattan.  Walk down Fulton Street (toward the river) to Gold Street, turn left on to Gold, walk under the Brooklyn Bridge, the school is on the left.
	R/N Get off at City Hall Station in Manhattan.  Walk to Chambers Street and toward (east) the Municipal Building.  Walk through the Municipal Building, then through Police Plaza.  You will see the school across the street.
